Meet your guide at Ruatoria, for your journey to the pou (whakairo, traditional carvings) site atop Maunga Hikurangi.

Learn about Maori gods and legends, the mountain’s significance in New Zealand history and to the Ngati Porou people, as well as the meanings behind the traditional carvings – the largest standing at over 10 metres.
